🚴Jaunt Bike & Sioux Falls Trail Safety Rules

1. Basic Riding Etiquette

Always keep to the right of the trail to allow others to pass safely.

Yield to pedestrians and slower-moving trail users (except when passing).

When passing, do so on the left and give an audible signal (bell, horn, or voice).

Stay safe, have fun, and always use your best judgement.

Control your speed and be courteous.

2. Speed & Control

Maintain a safe and controllable speed at all times.

Slow down in crowded areas or around intersections.

Always maintain full control of your bicycle or e-bike.

3. Crossings & Intersections

Be cautious at crossings—look both ways before entering or crossing.

Yield at intersections: cyclists must yield to through traffic and pedestrians.

Pedestrians always have the right-of-way.

Use extra caution where trails intersect with roads or other paths.

5. Helmets, Gear & Rider Visibility

Wearing a helmet can significantly reduce the risk of head injury.

Wear bright or reflective clothing to improve visibility.

Use lights and reflectors during low-light or nighttime riding.

Do not block the trail when stopped—move fully off the path.

6. Trail & Weather Awareness

Watch for uneven surfaces, debris, and changing trail conditions.

Adjust your riding behavior based on weather and visibility.

7. Emergency Situations

In case of an accident or emergency, call 911 immediately.
